eLLf's Top Holiday Romances
A Wallflower Christmas
This Regency novella has been the kick-off of our holiday season for years. In fact, we've already read in 2016! Not sure what it is, but it hits EVERY note for us. Longing. Sweetness. Christmasy vibes ... even if you're not a historical fan, it's worth a read, truly!
Baby It's Cold Outside
We're usually a little skeptical about anthologies, but we love this one. It has some of our favorite authors. And while we usually lean towards historical for our Christmas-romance fix, this is contemporary romance done right. We loved EVERY story in this anthology.
Miracle on Fifth Avenue
I've already recommended this one here on eLLf, but it's worth a second mention! We've read a TON of 2016 Christmas romances, and this is just about the only one that hit all the right notes. Charming, well-written, and festive without being too over-the-top corny!
Anything by Grace Burrowes or Mary Balogh
We mentioned above that some of the best Christmas stories come from the historical romance authors, and in looking at our "favorites" list, we realized that there are actually two authors, with multiple Christmas stories, each being the best of the best.
If you're at all into historical, please, please consider reading Grace Burrowes and/or Mary Balogh. These two ladies are not only skilled writers no matter the genre, but they really seem to have their pulse on that extra sparkly holiday-romance vibe.
Free Short story from Lauren Layne!
As promised, here's a holiday short story from Lauren Layne, called White Hot Christmas!
This is me, putting out a FREE story, just for fun.
Translation: there WILL be typos.
I did the best I could to clean it up myself, but to be honest, we authors aren't that good at spotting our own errors, especially when written on a whim, moved by the Christmas spirit as this one was. If you're the type of reader that can't enjoy a story with errors ... this might not be for you.
But if you're in the mood for something light, and fun, and romantic and Christmasy, here you go!
Summary of story :: Two opposing attorneys find themselves stuck in their high-rise office on Christmas Eve during a blizzard. What's worse? They used to be married.
PS :: This isn't the steamiest thing I've ever written, but it is is most definitely rated R, and not intended for anyone under the age of 18!
