eLLf friends & family takeover:
a note from eLLf Christmas's sponsor, Lauren Layne
So, today's Third Day of Romance is one of THREE guest takeovers we'll have this year, the first which is the every fabulous ...
If you've been following me awhile, you'll know that Lemmon and I are long-time besties, share publishers and an agent. Not only is she a fabulous friend, she's an AMAZING writer and has a book out yesterday called Shut Up and Kiss Me (the cover of which I'm obsessed with!)
Let's all give Jessica Lemmon (or, just call her LEMMON like I do) a festive, glitter-filled eLLf welcome!
Happy Day 3 of Romance, everyone!
I was so excited when LL asked if I would host a day of eLLf Christmas. Seriously, I couldn’t say yes fast enough! My name is Jessica Lemmon and I write super sophisticated billionaires and deliciously sexy bad boys. If you’re looking for humor, heat, and a whole lotta heart, you’ve come to the right girl! You can find me all over the interwebs. I look forward to connecting with you!
Christmas at the Lemmon house will be a little different this year than last. For starters, we moved from our small starter home to a luxurious lake house a bit further from family (about an hour), so it’s going to change up the holiday rituals some. My husband and I are going to celebrate Christmas not only in a new house, but he also tells me I have several special gifts and there will be three days of Christmas for me. Oh. And he put one of the gifts IN THE TREE to torture me.
Tiffany & Co., guys. I’m. DYING.
Day 3 of romance. 3 days of Tiffany & Co. It’s like my Christmas was designed by LL. (You didn’t have anything to do with this, did you, Lauren?!)
(note from LL :: if I got my hands on a Tiffany box, I'd NEVER share. Not even for you)
Today I’m sharing lots of fun Christmas goodies including:
- A holiday recipe guaranteed to please at parties
- An exclusive behind-the-scenes secret from my brand new novel
- A sale! Curl up with Connor McClain for less this Christmas
- A giveaway for a lucky 3
- And more!
hile it’s not a Christmas book, I did have a new book drop YESTERDAY, so you’re just in time to settle in with your very own copy of SHUT UP AND KISS ME. An accident stole Cade’s voice, but the girl he couldn’t have stole his heart.
Read more about SHUT UP AND KISS ME on my release day page.
Since I wanted to offer something special for you eLLf folks, I’m going to share the story behind how my hero was born. Once upon a time, I read a book about a hero with a stutter and I. was. enamored. Ruthie Knox’s Flirting with Disaster blew me away, and her stuttering hero, Sean absolutely won my heart. I wanted to write a stuttering/stammering hero! Years later, I saw my chance. Along came the Lost Boys, and Cade’s car accident, giving me the perfect opportunity. I spoke at length with my friend who is a speech therapist and dove in to Cade’s book with the excitement of Christmas morning. Every good romance has to have a fun romantic twist, though, right? I decided my heroine, Tasha would be a physical therapy student who is helping Cade out as a favor to her father. Cade resists, ashamed he’s no longer the silver-tongued fox he used to be, but Tasha persists. When she figures out most of his problem is mental, she decides to loosen his tongue the old fashioned way… and kisses him.
Gotta have it?
Shut Up and Kiss Me is available now across all digital formats.
A BAD BOY FOR CHRISTMAS
If you’re not familiar with my Second Chance series, you are in for a treat! Connor McClain’s story is book 3, but reads as a standalone if you want to start with him. And what a great place to start! It weaves through fall, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve and features my very favorite trope EVER. Connor and Faith are snowed in together on Christmas!
Better yet, the book that is usually $5.99 is on sale for just $1.99, so grab your e-copy today and curl up with Connor for the holidays.
Speaking of A Bad Boy for Christmas, how about a holiday recipe that’ll win over adults and kids both? This recipe is so amazing, that when my husband wrote his beer cookbook, he asked if he could include it. My heroine has quite the sweet tooth in the book, so Connor has taken to calling her “Cupcake”—plus she loves wine so I felt it appropriate to top these cupcakes with a chocolate wine sauce. Uh-huh. You're drooling now, aren’t you?
Devil Dog Cupcakes
1 ½ c. flour
1 c. sugar
½ c. cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
½ c. coconut oil (melted)
1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 can coconut milk
1. Preheat oven to 350º. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
2. Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa powder, soda, and salt into a large bowl.
3. In a separate bowl, combine oil, vinegar, vanilla, and coconut milk.
4. Add wet ingredients to dry and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
5. Fill cupcake liners about 2/3 of the way full. If you have leftover batter, line a few cups in another tin, or just eat the batter. (That’s what I did.)
6. Bake 16-20 minutes or until toothpick comes out dry.

1 c. non-hydrogenated vegetable shortening
3 c. powdered sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
3-5 Tbsp. non-dairy milk
1. Using beaters or a stand mixer, beat vegetable shortening, adding powdered sugar a cup at a time. When mixture becomes dry, add non-dairy milk a Tablespoon at a time.
2. Continue adding sugar until all three cups have been added. Scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula as needed.
3. Spoon frosting into a large plastic bag (or a frosting bag), twist and cut the corner off. Set aside.

Chocolate Wine Sauce
¼ cup non-dairy creamer (or milk)
¼ cup red wine
1 cup chocolate chips
(I couldn’t resist adding wine to the chocolate sauce. I mean, this recipe is in honor of Faith, after all! If you don’t want the wine, simply swap out for extra creamer. Leftover chocolate sauce will solidify in the fridge, but will melt in a few seconds in the microwave.)
1. Warm the creamer or milk over the stove until simmering (but not boiling) and add to a bowl.
2. Stir in chocolate chips to melt (it takes time, so be patient), while warming the wine on the stove to simmering. Once wine is warmed, add to the chocolate mixture.
3. Continue stirring until smooth. If the chips are not melting, pop bowl into the microwave for 15 seconds and stir. Repeat if necessary until sauce is smooth and glossy.
1. Once cupcakes are cooled completely (good luck—I ate one warm), unwrap from cupcake liner and put on a plate.
2. Pipe a generous mountain of frosting on the top, then spoon on the chocolate sauce. Top with a tiny bit of frosting and a maraschino cherry.
3. Enjoy with a fork and a smile… preferably at your next Girls’ Night Out.
